Heritage Paper is now a member of APASS, a network of suppliers qualified to design packaging to comply with Amazon’s Frustration Free Packaging program.
According to the US Department of Commerce, in 2018 consumers spent over $500 Billion online in retail purchases from US merchants, an increase of 15% over 2017. Amazon alone accounts for over 40% of those sales with more than one-third of the merchants ranked in internet Retailer Top 500 selling on their platform in 2019.
Amazon has long been concerned with packaging waste and since 2008 has avoided over 500 million boxes by encouraging Ship In Own Container packaging. In 2018 alone, they avoided 516 million boxes and reduced packaging waste by 21%.
Their mission for sustainable and frustration free packaging remains a top priority. Amazon recently launched a grand scale initiative encouraging marketers to certify their product packaging to comply with one of the three tier levels of Frustration Free Packaging. Financial incentives are offered on packages of certain dimensions to meet Tier 1 or Tier 2 level by August 1, 2019. The ultimate goal is to get all products moving through their logistics centers to be certified to one of the three tiers.
